Durness Limestone Lochs

The village of Durness is home to some of the most beautiful limestone lochs in Europe. Unique in Scotland and surrounded by breath-taking scenery, they offer very exciting wild brown trout fishing.

There are four limestone lochs, Lanish, Croispol, Borralaidh and Caladail with easy access and fishing from bank or boat (bank only on Lanish). In the crystal-clear waters, dry fly fishing works well and with the right conditions you could catch fish up to 5lbs and sometimes more.

The season runs from May to September and as the river fishing at Gualin doesn't really get going until mid-June, there is plenty of opportunity for accommodation at Gualin which can be used as a base from which to explore the limestone lochs.

The fishing is now controlled by the Keodale Sheepstock Club, the new tenants, and lettings can be arranged by Gualin estate either with or without accommodation at Gualin House, by phoning Gualin Estate on 01328 823233 or by phoning the Keodale Sheepstock Club direct on 01971 511255
